The cut is bound to lead to a reduction in the services, such as training and specialist support, which the central body provides to local Citizens Advice Bureaux.

One of the ways the agency hopes to soften the blow of funding cuts is by finding other sources of income. This may go some way to explain why Citizens Advice has been prepared to risk its reputation for independence in return for a share of the income set to be generated in the voluntary and private sector by the Pathways to Work project.
