Pip Appeal - a BIG thank you was created by Robinson_jon
Well, it took almost 18 months since I applied for my PIP, and recently after attending a tribunal I was finally awarded it!

I want to thank Benefits and Work as their guides helped me write a fantastic submission.

The people I seen were fantastic: A GP, Solicitor and Disabled Lady. They don't ask you questions to catch you out; just simple ones like 'who goes to the shops for you', 'how often does this happen', 'what would you do if you didn't have support'. If you have written a submission, this should tie up.

I received a confirmation letter that I had won my appeal a few days later.

out of interest, how long does it take from winning an appeal to getting confirmation of PIP award does it take? They said a few weeks at the appeal (unless DWP appeal the decision which they said rarely happens), but DWP said anything from a week to 4 weeks.

Any ideas?

Thanks again.

Congratulations on winning your Tribunal.

It can take the DWP 5-8 week to action the Decision, you may be able to speed up the process by faxing the DWP a copy of the Decision Notice, unfortunately Christmas and the New Year are likely to add to waiting time.

Just a quick update:

It's been 5 weeks tomorrow since my tribunal success and 4 weeks since DWP acknowledged it on their system. I understand that they need to make a decision on whether to appeal my tribunal notice within a month, although they could extend it briefly due to Xmas BD and NYD, is that correct?

I'm asking as DWP give me 10 different answers and want to try and escalate it next week, or get my MP to help. I understand they will write to me also re: hospital admissions and reconfirm bank details too, further adding time, or will they just ring me like they did with my partner last year?

Thanks again.

We normally expect a Tribunal result to be actioned in about 5-8 weeks so you are only just entering the period where you might expect payment, of course this time will have likely been extended by Xmas and the New Year.

The period for the DWP to request a written Statement of Reasons, the first stage to their appealing, is one month, this period is not extended by Xmas and the New Year, however, the Tribunal Service may accept a late request due to the holiday period.

It is certainly worth your checking it's status this week, but you might want to hold of escalating it for at least another week.

Thanks Gordon.

One month from when DWP acknowledged my result (22/12) or one month from the tribunal date when I was told the result? (15/12)

Sorry, because earlier before checking here they said 28 days from the 22/12, which is today! And 28 days isnt a month.

p.s. can you start training DWP staff on this as you are the only source of common sense!

Cheers
