It's up to you whether to use the information, I can't comment on whether they will still have the information, the DWP routinely destroy information for claims that are no longer active, all the you can do is ask them to include it if it is available.

But you need to be aware that the criteria for PIP is very different from that for DLA, much of the what was included in a DLA form will not be applicable to the new benefit, also, your son will have been assessed as a child, so his DLA form will be even further away from PIP.

I'm thinking about dropping my son's PIP. If we get a 2 week extension the PIP2 form will have been returned to DWP for ATOS mid May which I think going by the timing I experienced means he could be called for a f2f right in the middle of his important exams. This would def be too much for him. I assume ATOS would not let the f2f be deferred for possibly a few weeks so it could take place after his exam season? (If we drop it am I right in understanding we can just apply again after a short while so that the f2f would end up after exam season?)

There are delays appearing in the assessment process for PIP and you can rearrange the appointment once.

You can re-apply at any time.

Hi, my son is completing his PIP. He is doing the bathing bit, he has a few problems with bathing but one of them is the fact that as he has major problems with sleeping, he tends to fall asleep in the bath. He wants to put this in, because it makes his getting up, washed and dressed take extra long. But although he is right in that falling asleep in the bath is a real problem for him, I am not sure it seems the right thing to write. Your thoughts would be appreciated. I am not sure it is even safe but I have got so used to him doing it without drowning!! that it seems ok from the safety point of view. But I have to call through the bathroom door multiple times to wake him or he would never get to school on time. He sleeps through all alarms and relies on me to wake him, (dont know what will happen in he gets to uni). Anyway do you think he should write about his falling asleep in the bath problem?

There are two areas that he might be able to exploit, the first would be motivation to bath, does he fall asleep due to tiredness or is it a symptom of his conditions? If the former then he might be able to argue a need for prompting as he has to manage his exertions each day.

Secondly, if he can show that he is in danger due to the falling asleep when bathing then this would indicate a need for supervision, however, your post suggests that their is no risk and he does this regularly.

Thank you. I am not sure what you mean by manage his exertions. Could you elaborate please. He has struggled to get to sleep since he was a baby, and now at 19 years old, he still cannot get to sleep until sometimes 4 o clock in the morning. Then he cannot wake up! So throughout the school week he is always tired. I think the sleeping probs are linked to his autism.
