MY PIP Journey was created by Philtfa
Having waited and watched and researched my turn has finally come.

I thought it might be useful for me and, hopefully, others to record my thoughts, actions and finally the outcome of my PIP journey.

Have been on DLA since 2009 at Higher Rate for Mobility and Lower Rate for Care. Main health condition that affects me is Rheumatoid and Osteo Arthritis but there are others as well which also contribute.

The dreaded letter arrived on April 23rd 2016 inviting me to claim PIP. I live in a CM postcode area. Strangely there was a sense of relief that the waiting was over coupled with a feeling of "let's get on with this"

I intend to call DWP this afternoon!

Hiya Phil.
Today was my turn too, I felt exactly like you when the white letter appeared, I said to my wife I feel really strange I said I feel like a weight has just been lifted a like a sense of relief then also thought flippin eck right lets get on with it. The day couldn't come quicker for me I get really anxious.
Anyway my assessment was today it went really well I think?
I was just honest and took as much evidence that I could find, my Nurse even wrote me a letter.
I had a hell of a headache though all the way through, that's how stressed and worked up I got.
But I wouldn't be too bothered being called in again I thought it was reasonably pleasant!
Touch wood I don't want to Jinx owt!
Good Luck Phil.

Ok, so I called the PIP claim line. Brief wait for a few minutes on hold but not too long. The person I spoke to was courteous and efficient if a little robotic. They explained everything and asked for all of the basic information on the PIP1 form. As I had already filled this out in preparation I was well prepared and I wasn't asked anything unexpected. It took about 20 minutes. I was told that the PIP2 form should arrive within 2-3 weeks.

I have already researched the process quite extensively and as there is a lot of information on-line this was not too difficult. A big thank you to everyone behind this website for the invaluable guides and other information. It really is a huge help and very much appreciated.

Although I feel well prepared and believe myself entitled to PIP I am not over confident knowing how difficult it is, and has been, for so many to jump through the hoops. Indeed the one big thing confusing me is all of the horror stories in the press that highlight people who so obviously deserve an award yet who get nothing because when I compare myself I think well, if they didn't get anything surely I won't. Could it be that they didn't get anything because they didn't jump high enough or through the right hoop? That's what I tell myself. And so begins my journey. I'm not waiting for the form to arrive as I have already thought long and hard about how to tell my story. I will start writing tonight.
