PIP medical question was created by lesmac
I had my PIP medical two days ago and was asked a question that I hadn't read about on any website during my preparation. I am claiming due to mental health problems (depression and anxiety) and CFS. The health professional had not asked what my job was before I had to give up work a number of years ago and in the middle of the rather grueling hour and a half medical asked if I had gone to a normal or special school and then if I had left school with exams. I informed her that not only did I leave school with exams but I also went to university to study chemistry and then trained to be a teacher.

Has anyone else been asked this question, it seems really strange?

She also questioned whether my friend who came with me was allowed to take notes during the medical, for my personal use, and had to go and ask someone. I wanted notes so I would be prepared for any mandatory reconsideration or appeal. It may be that she is new to doing these.

I've spent the last two days in bed trying to recover, it could take some time. I'm completely emotionally and physically drained.

Hi lesmac andWelcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm sorry that this is so difficult for you :(

It does sound as if your assessor might have been new, she was certainly ignorant in several ways!

Currently, decisions are taking around 8 weeks once the face2face has been carried out - although this does seem to be taking even longer as the year progresses.

You might want to bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future. This will allow you to return with further questions/comments about your PIP claim without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one place - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

Thank you for your response. On the positive side, if it is taking 8 weeks then it is another 8 weeks of being paid DLA.

I got the result of my ESA reassessment today. I got moved from the WRAG to the Support group with no medical! Thank you Benefits and Work for for your incredibly detailed, helpful guides.

It's been a nightmare trying to do ESA and PIP forms one after the other while at the same time being investigated for housing benefit fraud due to someone maliciously phoning the housing society saying that they were my mother and that I was living in Scotland so she was managing my property, in England. Housing Benefit and ESA now sorted, fingers crossed for PIP but I'm not holding my breath.
