Hello! Just thought I'd better start my own PIP topic as I have now been 'invited' (chuckle) to apply for it. I have managed to get to the bottom of this 'hospitalised' question on the pip1 form regarding mental health claims. Oops sorry it not on the form itself it's a question they ask when you ring to make the claim. Apparently it is asked so they can be 'a bit more careful with you' whatever that means. Why can't they just be a bit more careful with everyone from the start? I plucked up the courage to query it ( and was almost sick agen wi stress of it and am confined agen back to my bedroom), wasn't asked anything about the hospitalisation itself by the way. Was told they don't always ask this question, got my own theory as to why!

I also asked for my number to be removed from their data base as I don't want them ringing or texting me anymore. Whether this request is adhered to or not remains to be seen!?!

Hi PP,

Sorry to hear that you have received the PIP 'invitation'!

The comments about the questions at the initial call are interesting. As you say, it would be nice if they were 'careful' with everyone :(

Keep an eye on the PIP2 arriving it should be about a week but if it goes to 10 days, chase them about it and ask for a new return date, make sure it is treated as such and not an extension which you may need to ask for later.

Oh thanx for your advice Gordon. Very interesting to know that if it does arrive very late I can ask for a new return date rather than it eating into any extension I may ask for. Forgot to mention I was also told if after an extension being granted I still needed more time I could apply for additional one but that would be at managers discretion. It probs states that in the guide but I have only just started reading it so sorry if I appear to be telling u wot u already know. Oops sorry also for any txt speak!

Just wanted to add how glad I am I joined this site. Although I am now in the throws of the pip process I am still waiting to hear any news about my ESA reassessment. I have much more confidence in being able to complete the pip forms in time, and not get into such a blind panic as I did with the ESA forms. For a start ESA forms just landed on doorstep with no warning. The time spent then waiting for an appt with Cab to help get them filled in took up such valuable time, and their writing was unreadable, leaving me with no option but to download the PDF version. It only got completed on last day of posting, but because it was all so rushed lots of valuable info was missed off.

At least with pip u get much more warning and u can also ask for the extension. Already reading the guide. Got sample copy of pip2 and will start filling in soon ready for the arrival of the actual form. Would have given up long ago without this site. Not saying I am confident of an award but glad I have much more time and far better help than I did when filling in ESA form.

Also in recent weeks have managed to find a mental health advocate who will come to any face to face with me. Phew, weight off! She came to docs with me recently to help me sort out things regarding access to mental health services, and will also come with me to any meetings with them. Still it is all so distressing and that is why I end up confined to my bedroom for days on end. I am glad tho that I am doing all this as it helps me fight the bugg..s back, ha!

Hello has anyone else had difficulty trying to get the extra extension for the pip2 form filling? They appear to be very evasive as to whether they granting me it or not. It's really stopping me from cracking on with finishing the form. Uncertainty around this extra extension has kicked off the anxiety which in turn stops me finishing the form. Or is that the desired intention? Thinking o just sending it in half completed. Apparently case manager agreed to a few extra days but they can't be sure till when or from, then they said it ok till 25th, but post a week earlier. Also got trouble asking gp surgery for copy o referral letter to local cmht team. Asked for it three times now and each time I call they unsure what i'm asking for, they can see it on screen in front o them. I get same answer that someone will call me back. Well if u didn't have mental health problems before, u certainly will after all this! It's just too much dealing with pip and ESA reassessments as same time. Batting or balling springs to mind!
