Pip assessment was created by PAULA64
Hi, yesterday I had an automated text advising DWP had received all the information they need to start looking into my PIP claim and to contact them if I have further details that has not been sent. I had my assessment earlier this week and feel it was very rushed and the assesor didn't give me time to explain fully how my condition affects me and how unpredictable each day is. My question is, should I contact DWP now or wait until they have made a decision? Also can I ask for a copy of the assessors report now and if so how do I go about getting the Report? I have relapsing remitting MS and am interested to hear if anyone else has experienced a similar home assessment experience. Many thanks x

Hi Paul and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm sorry you don't feel the assessor allowed you to explain your limitations :( In light of the text message you received, you can send additional information to DWP now if you think it would be helpful.

You can phone DWP and ask for a copy of the assessor's report, this should be sent without any problems.

You might want to bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future. This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP claim without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one place - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

Hi,

After 2 years on PIP with enhanced living and mobility I received the dreaded brown envelope today advising they have downgraded me to standard living and 0 points for mobility :( I think they thought by giving me the award for an ongoing period it would soften the blow !. I am going to do a MR but the CAD lady who has been helping me is on holiday for the next two weeks. I am assuming I can let the DWP know that I would like a MR but am waiting for the CAD lady to return from holiday to help me write my reasons. Are there any sample letters on the site to this effect and if so where can I find them?

It is all a bit of a joke as I will have to return my mobility car before I get a reconsidered decision and if it goes in my favour I will have to go through the whole rigmarole of ordering and waiting for a new car. And why now acknowledge that MS is a condition that is never going to get better by giving me an ongoing award period? Bit contradictory given the fact that 2 years ago they said I qualified for enhanced for both!

Moan over and thank you in advance for your help x

Hi Paula,

I'm sorry that your award has been downgraded on reassessment :(

You have one month in which to submit the MR request. You do not have to go into great detail initially but should make it clear that you will be following up with more information at a later stage.

The Decision Maker should give you some time to get the information submitted - however, they sometimes seem to take little notice of this.

The PIP guide explains the MR process

Thanks for your quick response. I feel a little silly but I am sure I once saw sample letters to send to DWP requesting MR but I cant find them. Could you point me in the right direction on the PIP help for claimants?

Many thanks x
