PIP - Beware of evidence being separated from form

I had a nightmare with PIP, arguing with ATOS over whether my mentally sick and physically disable husband needed an assessment. After three weeks of stress asking them how they could insist he did, I was lucky to get one brilliant operator on the phone who listened to what I said. She revealed to me that my evidence (53 pages in length) had been separated from the form. On every page of the form I had put a reference to my evidence but no one had read it properly. This one operator sent a message to the reviewers asking them to confirm - what turned out to be in total 77 pages.

I then received a phonecall telling me that no face to face assessment was needed and they would do a paper-based assessment. (I cried with relief).

The lesson here is if you have to challenge ATOS about assessments- ask them if the evidence is all there on the screen. I had asked but taken it at face value when I was told they didn't know. This was unture, but what was clear is the form was scanned one week and it was about two weeks later the rest of my evidence was scanned into the system

Result: Last week we heard, he has been awarded enhanced rate for care and mobility. Also lucky that it is an ongoing award which I know is rare. :cheer:

I cannot express enough thanks to this site for the information and help. I went through the PIP advice guiet over and over again and he scored 23 and 22 (12 needed for enhanced rate). I could not have done this without this site. And special thanks to Gordon for sound advice when I was almost at breaking point.

Congratulations on the award and thank you for your comments.

The DWP scan the PIP2 and attached documents on receipt, it's obviously possible for the two to become separated at this point but it should not happen, your recommendation that members ask Assessment Provider to confirm that they have all their evidence is a good one that we'll try and use on future posts.

Congratulations on your husband's PIP award BIS, I think you can take a great deal of credit for making it happen. Thanks for letting us know, and for your kind words about B+W :)

Yes, I had this too- in the appeal bundle the care plan I have was unstapled due to the process and was not understandable or usable due to it. I sent the appeals panel a new copy and asked them to use that. This is also something to be aware of at the appeals stage, as they separate it all into individual sheets in date order.

Hi there, I am also worried that my evidence and additional information may go missing.
I have typed out on my computer the responces to the various questions to be completed in the extra information boxes.
Is it acceptable for me to glue my responces into this space to save me having to write it out longhand and having to add and attach extra sheets? My writing in nearly indisiferable so I thought this might help with the assessment being able to read it ?

Many thanks,

You can providing it will fit. The form is scanned by the DWP when they receive it, so just be careful to ensure that you will not cause problems with this process.
