Hi everyone, this is my first posting so please bear with me.
I am a 60 year old woman, had to leave work in 2002 with health issues , lower back pain following prolapsed discs from 1990, depression and OCD. I was on Incapacity Benefit, and then moved to ESA support group in 2013, following a Mandatory Reconsideration.
Over the years my health has deteriorated, as well as the above mentioned, I also have arthritis in most lower joints, and thumbs/ wrist, i fall over a lot with loss of balance, also suffer IBS 4-5 times month, and my OCD rules my life.
I had the latest examination 3 days ago, surprisingly with a doctor. My friend who came with me made a note of his name.
Thinking I was discussing my problems with a go, I was giving very full, and embarrassing, details of how I am affected day to day. I got the impression he was questioning any recent interventions,( I haven't seen a CPN since 2004, and no recent scans etc of my back etc), but have extreme pain every day & night.
Yesterday I checked this doctor's name on the GMC register, and discover he is an anaesthetist and business manager?
Has anyone else had this? I don't feel confident that he will understand the effects of my illnesses on my life, and in truth I feel a little violated that I was giving so much personal medical info to a "business" manager in effect. I think I would have been happier with a nurse like my last one in 2013.
I feel that I should already be preparing my MR request.
What does anyone think of anaesthetists being dragged in to carry out WCA's

HI Sheila and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

The DWP take the stance that, whatever the background of the HealthCare Practitioner, they are all trained in disability assessment and that is all that matters :(

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Sheila an anaesthetist is a fully trained doctor. Just like a radiologist,, a haematologist, they all do the many years of study to become a doctor and then go off into the various disciplines that they are interested in. Please do not feel too upset. To be honest I would rather be examined by a fully trained doctor than a midwife or paramedic. As for business manager, he is probably a manager as well as consultant for his anaesthetist department where he works.
