ok, but is it common to wait 4 years and counting for another medical? especially as I read that 3 months, 6 months, 1 or 2 years is the norm. and 3 years is very seldom. (i'm not complaining, just curious.)

We would expect 2-3 years for most SG awards. There were serious issues with the assessment process last year and the year before and as a result many reassessment dates were put back by the DWP for two years, it's possible that your claim was one of those effected.
If you want to check when you are due for reassessment, give the DWP office dealing with your claim a call and ask.
