Been too generous on walking distance

I'm due for f2f assessment this week and realise I have been too lenient on myself with walking distances. I ticked the box up to 200 metres but I can't walk that distance if I'm totally honest with myself. I have a leg injury.

I am petrified of my assessment and have been unable to see my GP (although I did tell him I was making a claim) and I see my consultant tomorrow. Any advice greatfully received.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

First of all, which benefit is this?

The Decision Maker will take your statements on the claim form as being the most accurate although they will also take into account what the assessor reports.

You say that you cannot walk 200m, how far can you walk?

Would your GP or Consultant be able to provide written evidence as to how far you can walk?

Whilst you do not need to walk pain free, any pain that limits the distance you can walk should be taken into account, also you must be able to repeat the distance within a reasonable period of time.

Have a look at our claim guides

Thank you for your reply. It's for PiP. I can probably walk just over 50 metres (if 5 double deckers is correct) but certainly not 20 buses. The more I walk the more painful it becomes.

I'm sure my consultant will clarify my walking distances but concerned I won't have the information in time for my assessment.

All you can do is say that you misunderstood the requirement.

Hello K

I did a very similar thing in my pip application. I filled in thebform and answered in metres, rather than feet! I just mentioned it at the f2f, although the lady said she had already been able to see I couldn't walk very far without being in pain!
Good luck
Amanda
