Hi rang today as had to because the DWP had not paid my husbands pension credit. They said it must be to do with changing from DLA to PIP. so told me to ring that department. I did and the lady told me he has been awarded standard on both with no end date. Really don't know what to think, we just cant believe it because he now loses his motability car after twenty years and the fact he is now in severe heart failure and has a nurse coming into the home. Whats more mad is the assessor didn't ask him anything on his walking apart from did he have a blue badge. And we told her about the help I have to give him because of his rheumatoid arthritis. Hes in such bad health and makes me want to fight this for him, but then on the other hand is it worth all the stress.Have not received the report yet but in all honesty do we really want to read the lies in it.

You can't do anything until your receive a Decision Letter from the DWP. You need an Enhanced Award for access to the Motability scheme, if he only scores points for the Moving Around activity then you need to show that he cannot reliably stand and walk more than 20m on the majority of days. This is a significant reduction from the 50m used by DLA and Blue Badge scheme.

I understand I have to wait until the decision letter arrives. I will be very interested to see what the assessor has said about his care needs. As when we did the pip test he scored for the enhanced rate. I have to do most things for him due to his rheumatoid arthritis, which he has now been put on chemotherapy medication for and been advised to get adaptions to the house. I said on the day of his assesement that we felt she wasn't thorough enough, so don't really know why I'm surprised. I just feel so sorry for my husband, its disgusting 67 years of age and in bad health and its like they don't care and they don't believe you.

Hi FC sorry to hear that hubby may have only got a standard award, wait for the letter first though. You say he is 67 years of age I thought if a person is on DLA at the age of 65 he/she remains on that (untouched) unless the person writes/phone into DWP with a change of circumstances ie health problems getting worse then PIP kicks in.

I hope the mods see this and may advise if I am right or wrong but if I am right I would be with MP right away.

If you have to appeal surely hubbys heart doctor will write up a report to state his health problems, after all your heart is like an engine of a car,you are dysfunctional if it is not performing well . Good luck hope it all works out.

Hi Kv,

Anyone on DLA who was under 65 years of age in April 2013 will be 'invited' to apply for PIP at some stage, even if they are well over 65 by then.
