Hi all,

I have my DLA to PIP assessment in 2 weeks and having been through the process before with ESA i have an understanding of what might happen but what i wanted to know from people who have already been through the process is...

What does the actual assessment entail?
whats the time frame for being told that you have failed the assessment and then appealing that decision? (Im using worse case scenario)
What does your money get reduced down to whilst in the whole assessment process?
Whats the time frame from having the assessment through to having the appeal heard?

Dont mean to sound negative but if im informed then i can be pre armed and there are minimum surprises.

Any information would be appreciated

Kind regards

Hi Steve,

The PIP assessment is very similar to the ESA one, Our PIP guide explains exactly what to expect.

If a PIP claim fails, the claimant will have 1 month to request an MR, then another month to submit an appeal request, if needed.

The DLA payment continues for 1 month after the PIP decision is made. Then payment equals the PIP award. If the claim is refused then nothing will be paid while awaiting appeal.

I'm afraid it is impossible to estimate how long the process might take from application to appeal as there are too many variables involved.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
