PIP assesment date mix up. was created by bigchris
I was on holiday when my assessment date came through for friday 12th august. Icame home on Saturday the 13th of august to find the notice on the mat.I phoned Atos on monday 15th august to tell them and was told i could rearrange the appointment as it was not my fault i was on holiday.I then phoned the DWP as advised by atos and was told that would not be a problem as i had 1 more chance.I had letter on the 20th of September saying my DLA was cancelled and i had to give my car back by 4th october as my reason was not good enough. I phoned them the same day for an explanation and arranged for a supervisor to call me back on the 21st of September. She phoned me and said i should not of had that letter and to ignore it as a mandatory reconsideration was pending. I phoned on 30 September to check because i was going away from 3rd october to the 7th october and was told it would be ok as i had till 16th october at the earliest before it was due for assesment. Today 12th october i noticed my DLA carers money was less.Once again i phoned to be told my DLA was finished on the 4th october.I am being phoned tomorrow to find out what is going on.Motability have not even contacted me.surely i have at least 1 more chance for a medical assesment and why was i told to ignore the letter when i was phoned.I am frightened and worried sick as my car is my lifeline.

Hi Christopher,

It does sound like a typical DWP left hand not knowing what right hand is doing!

Claimants should have 2 chances at a face2face appointment, if one is deemed necessary. I'm afraid all you can do is wait for tomorrow's call.

Chris

We have had a number of members report their claims being closed as a result of missing the first appointment, the common thread is that they did not notify the Assessment Provider in advance that they could not make the appointment, the office are investigating this procedure as it is not one we have seen before and as Mrs H has said, we would expect a claimant to have two opportunities to attend.

Unfortunately this has only come to the light in the last few weeks so we have had no response to our investigations yet.

I had to give my car back today all because of a mistake by the D W P and ATOS.Tomorrow I have an appointment in London at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital for an inflammation on my brain stem to add to my worry then a home Assesment by ATOS on Thursday. This worry never ends and I also had a Phone call from the D W P from an internal complaint officer as I have told my MP about this mess, not of my doing and he has demanded answers. In fact he said I should never of had my DLA stopped until a decision has been made on my claim for P I P.I don't know if I can take more of this, but I will keep in touch about this.Sorry for the long post but I am so scared and worried.
