PIP claim was created by mbc127
I received a text message on 23rd September from DWP to say they got all the info to make a decision (and report from assessor) on my PIP claim. However, received a letter dated 5th October after almost 3 weeks, repeating the same news. Secondly, been over 2 weeks since I requested my assessment report from the DWP.
I called the DWP and asked for an update and was told the text message was sent in error and the letter was more accurate and to expect a decision within 6 weeks . Also, I stated I had not received my report and was not given a clear reason, but told it would be sent out again and I should receive it within 2 weeks? Wonder what is going on with my claim.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I know it's difficult but try not to worry too much about what is happening with your claim, this is very normal although I know that this is unlikely to be very reassuring. The unfortunate fact is that the DWP are not very good at their jobs and errors such as your report not being sent out occur quite often.

We are currently seeing most PIP Decisions take about 7-8 weeks so the latest information that you have received is consistent with this.

I received my decision letter recently and was only received 4 points in mobility and no other points. I was asked to walk less than 2 meters (quoted 4 meters by assessor) and based on that was told can walk more than 50m and less than 200m! The assessor was very draconian and didn't even allow my family friend to speak on my behalf.

I am dreading to appeal and wondering the chances of getting anywhere if I did. I can't see getting any additional medical reports as I gave them everything I had.

Success rates at the Mandatory Reconsideration stage are quite low, at appeal they are over 60%.

The first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
