How long for PIP assessment report? was created by funmum
I requested my sons PIP assessment medical report over 2 weeks ago now. After a week I rang to chase it and after 15 days I rang again and asked what was going on, I was told that the request for the "report to be written up" had been sent to an officer but that it hadnt been done as yet.

Why is someone having to write the report up, isnt it just a photocopy or printout of what the "medical professional" wrote?

Is it normal for it to be taking this long? I wanted to have it back in time to use it in my MR request.

Unfortunately the call centre staff often make thing up to try and explain why something has happened or has not happened.

There's no reason why you should not receive a copy of the report, all they have to do is copy it!!!

Yes, they have said that the officer has to write it up for me, not copy it. I asked them several times.

The assessor actually scribbled very few notes on a paper copy of the form at the assessment as his laptop was broken. I am thinking that the form is illegible and they cannot type it up to send to me.

I want to go to appeal now, I dont want another assessment as I think we have a much better chance of success at appeal. But if they cannot manage to type the report up I am worried that they will discard the assessors (terrible and shoddy) assessment, take back their zero points decision, and order a new assessment.

Is it possible for them to do that?

We have had the decision, and not put in for MR yet but are still within the deadline

I'm sorry but there is no requirement for the DWP to "write it up", you are asking for a copy of the report as it was sent to the DWP by the assessor, as is your right.

They won't change the Decision, now made unless you submit an MR.

You need to call them again.

Thank you. I rang again, said I was concerned that there must be some kind of problem as I thought it was just a case of printing it off, and asked for the person whose desk the job was on to ring me back.

They rang me within a couple of hours and said they have personally printed it and put it in the post tonight. So hopefully I will have it in time to use in my MR request.
