PIP Claim Initial Phone Call - Concerned

Hi,

I've been 'invited' to claim PIP as my DLA claim (indefinite) is ending. I had my initial phone call and was quite concerned when asked about any supporting evidence. I asked for the evidence from my DLA claim to be submitted, but the lady I spoke to immediately said "Oh that will just delay your claim". She was adamant that I should just send copies of anything I have. Why have the question on the form if you are not able to request this?

Also, I was under the impression that I was supposed to receive a copy of the form filled in during the phone call to check and sign. Does this not happen now? I have received the 'How your disability affects you' form, which I am just about to tackle, but I am so nervous of this whole process I am really struggling to do it. I suffer with anxiety at the best of times, now it is through the roof!

Sorry for the (probably) silly questions. This is such a horrible process :(

Thank you for reading x

Did they accept your request to include your DLA evidence? The only delay would be if your DLA information is in offsite storage.

That said, we recommend the claimant includes any information they want to have considered with their claim form, that way they can integrate it with their answer on the form.

They used to send the PIP1 out for signature, but no longer do so for the majority of claimants.

Make sure you make full use of the PIP Claim guide to help you complete the form and in particular have a look at the use of "reliably" and "the majority of days".

If you have more questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
