ESA was created by KEVIN SHEARD
HI on the 7th of Oct 2016 I drove my wife to the ESA centre in Barnsley the security let us in with the barrier been lifted. I then parked in a Disabled bay and put my badge in the window of the car. The security man came over and asked me to move my car as he said it was for staff only at that time they were 3 cars parked on the site the car park could hold at least 50 cars with 3 Disabled spaces. I refused is request as I thought it was discrimination against Disabled people when summoned to go for an ESA medical. I asked the security man who had made this rule he replied the owner of the building I asked for the owner's name so that I could contact him he said he did not know. When we went inside the medical was on the third floor so we went up in the lift. When we got to the reception the security man told the woman at the reception about where I had parked In a loud voice she told me I could not park there I asked why the same reply staff only. I asked why the same reply the owner of the building I then asked who owns the building same reply don't know. When the medical was over we went down to the car they were one Disabled space vacant and about 40 spaces in the car park vacant. Are they in the law to do this when they use a building for the public medicals not to let you use their parking.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If this is a private car park then I'm afraid you had no right to park in it, it would be a separate discussion as to whether these assessment centres should offer disabled parking for claimants.
