WCA missed appiontment for ESA was created by Kummerzz
Hi

Had text to say I missed my WCA appointment - someone from DWP phoned but I do not like speaking on the phone so my friend answered the caller repeated the question why did I not attend the appointment - later I phoned and inquired if the DWP had the correct address as I had not received a letter, after giving my NI - it turns out that the DWP have been sending my correspondence to an incorrect address! Could this be the reason why my DLA allowance stopped back in February.? What steps can I take to ensure I do not lose my ESA allowance through no fault of my own the same way as my DLA.

It would seem quite likely that this is the reason your DLA stopped.

AS to your ESA I would write immediately to the office dealing with your claim (do you know which this is?), pointing out that that the address they have on file is incorrect, as they supply the address to Maximus, this would also imply that the address used for the WCA invitation was also incorrect.

Did you receive an ESA50?

Di you take any action in regard the DLA? If not then it is not too late to do so!

Hi Gordon

I have been receiving ESA for many years the last letter I received from DWP was 2 years ago - so I guess I will write to that office about the address being filed incorrectly and the DLA was stopped at the beginning of the year so I guess I will have to apply from the start again.

Is there a freephone number for ESA?

If it is two years then you need to contact them for an address, they have all bee recently updated.

My best guess for the DLA is that you were invited to claim PIP and as you did not do so within the required timescale your DLA claim was closed. AS this appears to be an error by the DWP it may be possible to get the DLA re-instated but you will need to request a Mandatory Reconsideration. See the PIP MR & Appeal guide for more information (or the DLA one, at this stage the process is the same).
