DLA to PIP and tax credits was created by pianofish
I got the dreaded 'moving from DLA to PIP' letter today, one of the main things I'm concerned about if I don't make the enhanced care level is our Working Tax Credits (joint claim in my partner's name). We currently get the severe disability premium because I'm on higher rate care for DLA, if on PIP I go down to standard rate then when it's all tallied up at the end of the year will we lose the severe premium for the entire year - in which case we'll have to pay back a fairly hefty sum of money - or do they pro-rata it so it will count for some of the year? Apologies if this is beyond the scope of this forum.

As far as I know, both the Disability Element of Tax Credits and certainly the Severe Disability Premium are enabled by a standard award of PIP Daily Living or are you talking about the Enhanced Disability Premium referred to as Disability Income Guarantee on the ESA paperwork? This is enabled by being in the ESA Support Group or having an HRC DLA award or a PIP Enhanced DL award.

If you do not receive the Enhanced rate then it will apply from when the Decision is made, there should be no requirement to repay any money as a result.

Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for assistance on completing the phone call and the claim form. If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
