Hi
Id appreciate some advice please.
Ive recently filled in ESA forms, its for a continuing claim. Ive been in the support group since first claiming.
I have severe M.E as well as several other health problems and am house bound all the time and bed bound for most of the time too.I need a great deal of help and depend on my husband for everything. I only ever go out for hospital appointments, and these leave me more ill and exahausted and can only go lying down in the back of the car.
Ive a lot of supporting evidence as well as giving a lot of detail as to how my illness affects me, and Ive also , included a letter from my g.p confirming the severity of my illness and that Im housebound and any medical assesments should be done at home.
Ive just been told today that I have to go for a medical, they have ignored everything.
I have no idea what to do next.
Id appreciate any advice given
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

It doesn't mean that they have ignored your evidence, just that they cannot make a recommendation without seeing you :)

ME/CFS is poorly understood by most health professionals and is considered to be a fluctuating condition.

If you cannot attend at their offices then you need your GP to write Maximus to explain why this is the case.

If you have questions about this or about anything else then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me.
My g.p said in the letter due to severe health problems I am housebound and practically bed bound100% of the time, I need assistance with all aspects of care and getting around. He also said that given the severity of my illness trying to get to an assessment would cause a worsening of my symptoms and any assessments should be done at home. I also included a letter form my m.e specialist which goes into great detail what symptoms I have and the severity and how it affects me. I cant think of anything else that could be added.

It is worth your phoning Maximus to make sure that they have actually read these, it's not impossible that they have been missed, you can also ask what additional information they need to allow a home assessment.

You should also contact your MP about the situation, you may be surprised at how amenable the Assessment Providers can be when this happens.
