Hi guys

I sent a ESA50 renewal form back in February this year, I have not Heard anything from them since. Then 2 weeks ago i got a phone call saying I have been granted a home visit and they wanted to arrange a time and date for it, very shocked at the time, I manged to postpone by telling them I would have to check when my mum is off work so that she will be with me when they come.
I have always been in the support group since I changed over from IB years ago. I have had medicals before, but at the their medical centers & can't understand why they want to do a home visit. I had a home visit a few years ago for DLA and I hated it. They question every thing in your house, criticise & comment on the most irrelevant things and make you feel interrogated in you own home. Two of them came, one would ask questions and the other was walking around my house snooping. I felt terrible & demoralised when they went, I was physically sick. I don't let anyone on my house any more, I don't feel comfortable with it, it's too stressful .
Why do they want to come ?
Can I say no to them coming ?
Is this usual proceedure 8 months after submitting a ESA50 8 months ago ?
Or could it be another reason ?

Please advise where I can find details and which guides to use. I would be very greatful for your help as this Web site and your guides have ways got me through, with the best results possible.
Thanks

The home visit has been offered because of the severity of your problems, you can opt for an interview at Maximus's offices but they will make assumptions about your abilities if you do.

Your claim cannot continue unless you have an assessment. It is normally one assessor and they have no right to look around you home and usually no interest in doing so.

Have a look at the ESA Claim guides, there is a section at the back that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
