I have read both ESA guides throughly,but I'm still not completely sure about the the way people could get into support group.
my understanding of the new guide is that the applicant should first score 15 to be eligible for work group and then their responses to certain questions could make them eligible for support group.is that true?
but has it always been like this or is this a new system?
I always thought if a person scores 15 they will be put in work activity group and if they score higher (a certain number) they will be eligible for support group.
at the moment it seems unless they pass the mentioned criteria they won't get into support group no matter what the total score.
Support Group qualification has not changed since ESA was introduced in 2008, although there have been changes to some of the Descriptors that the claimant needs to meet, there is a section in the Claim guides that identifies three ways you can be placed in the SG.
The SG is not points based you need to meet one or more of the qualification criteria, some of these correspond to the 15 point Descriptors, but not all of them.
