If your MR has been refused then your next option is to make an appeal, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide. it has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and instructions on how to complete the form, at this stage you do not have to go into your reasons for the appeal in detail.

To receive an increased award you will need to show that you meet the criteria to score the extra points, so a good place to start is for you to go through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to make sure that you have shown this. In particular you should have a look at the use of "reliably" and "on the majority of days" in the Claim guide, be aware that many of the Descriptors have multiple elements, you must show that you meet all of these to score. Also be aware of any specific wording that the Descriptors use such as "overwhelming psychological distress", you will need to show that you also meet these phrases.

If you don't have a copy of the assessment report, then you can either wait, one will be sent to you as part of the appeal or you can request one from the DWP office that deals with your claim.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
