Apologies if there is already a thread regarding this topic,
I have applied for PIP, and provided them with ample evidence, yet I am required to attend a face to face consultation at a centre. I have called twice now asking for a home visit & been told there are none available, and that I am eligible for either a home visit or an appointment at their centre. I explained that due to Agoraphobia and panic attacks I only leave my home to attend vital blood tests, they see this as "if I'm able to attend these I'm able to attend a consultation at their centre and I can bring someone with me" I also told them the second time I called that in addition to my agoraphobia I suffer from Post Thrombotic Syndrome & Chronic Venous Insufficiency, and I am unable to walk anymore than about 15 metres, I explained that I get dropped off outside my GP surgery & only have to walk about 10metres, to this I was told I could get dropped off directly outside their centre likewise.
I know that if I attend this appointment it will be reported that I "was able to walk XYmetres to the room, was able to travel 25 miles to attend...." You get what I'm trying to say, basically what I was wondering was is there any way I can get a home appointment?? Also I cannot understand why they want to see me as I submitted more than enough evidence in my application form, is there any way I can ask them what exactly they hope to gain from this assessment & whatever it is then perhaps I can get it from my GP for them to save the need for an appointment?
Thank you

Hi,

Don't worry about whether there is already a topic on this subject - we prefer each member to start a separate topic for each of their claims rather than tagging on to someone else's. This allows us to make sure that the information we give is tailored to what we know of your circumstances.

It is very common for claimant's to struggle to be allowed a home assessment. Have you sent in a letter from your GP, stating why you would not be able to attend an assessment centre? You stand very little chance without this letter.

The other option would be to contact Capita and ask what extra information they would need in order to make a paper based assessment. However, the simple fact is that your claim will not proceed until/unless you have had a face2face meeting if one is deemed necessary.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP, wherever you are in the process, without having to start anew topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept to one topic - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi, thank you for your reply, I think a GP letter sounds like a good idea hopefully it helps to get me a home assessment. Thank you for the advice about the forum also :-)
