PIP - this is hard to say but any advice will be good. I have suffered from major depression for about 10 years 9 years ago I was held captive at gun point for 3 months I was false fed drugs but was unaware this led to drug induced psychosis he let me go because he was a drug dealer and didn't want the police involved. This led to being sectioned and many other hospital stays. He raped and beat me and my little dog. I'm currently on DLA. It has ruined my life and am now an addict because of this stuff but I've tried every thing but to no avail. All my medical pofessionals are aware and are trying to help I also have many other health conditions but the list would be boring you all. I've tried suicide on numerous occasions but unfortunately failed that to. Please any advice if I will be successful with PIP I have been totally honest with them. :(

Hi Zoe and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm sorry that life is so hard for you :(

PIP will be awarded because of care and/or mobility needs. It is not directly dependent on the condition from which you suffer. Anyone who score enough points against the psecific criteria will be awarded the benefit.

Obviously I can't comment on whether your specific claim will be accepted as I don't know how you have answered the questions on the PIP2 form!

How long ago did you send the form back?

If you want to know more about the PIP descriptors and process, it is all explained in our guide

PIP help for claimants

I see that you have made duplicate posts. Every message on this forum will be read and approved by a moderator before being made public. Even when the forum is officially open this can take a while, depending on how many (voluntary) mods are on duty and how busy we are.

You might like to bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future. This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one topic - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

I'm sorry but we cannot predict the outcome of a transfer to PIP from DLA, the assessment criteria are very different between the two benefits, some claimants will find it easier to obtain an award under PIP than they did under DLA, many will find it more difficult as the new benefit has been designed to reduce the disability budget.

All I can suggest is that you have a look through our PIP Claim guide to understand the criteria against which you will be assessed and if you have questions ask them in the forum.

Have you actually been invited to claim PIP or are you considering to apply early?

I was invited to as been on DLA for about 7 years and I've never had an assessment before as gp wrote and said it would be detrimental to my mental state to attend.

Any advice would be great

Thank you :(

The Assessment Providers are required to produce an assessment report, how they acquire the information to do this is at their discretion. To carry out what is called a paper assessment they have to be satisfied that they have sufficient information in your PIP2, the evidence attached to it and any other information they source from those who support your, for example your GP.

If they do not feel that they have sufficient information then they are obliged to carry out a face to face assessment, although they must take into account any risk to the claimant that might result from their doing so.

If you are asked to attend an assessment then you still have options, it may be possible to arrange a home assessment if this would be less stressful for you and it may be possible to still get a paper based assessment if you can provide the information that is preventing them from carrying one out.

I only have my mum for support. I am limited to my bed at the moment as I am so ill will they take this into consideration I find it hard to go down stairs as I get so anxious. :(
