DLA to PIP was created by Twinklelight
Hi can anyone tell me if it is better to just go ahead and fill the forms in yourself or is there a better success rate if you get help filling in the forms from citizens advice bureau. So stressed about this feel like I can fill them in but scared I use the wrong choice of words .

If you can get access to a trained Welfare Rights worker then it may be to your advantage to have them complete the form for you, however, many claimants will struggle to get access to someone with the necessary training and those with lesser training may not properly represent your problems on the form, this can significantly alter the equation of what to do.

Many claimants complete the form themselves and are successful in getting the award that they want.

The bottom line is that it is your claim and only you profit or lose by the result, so even if you have someone complete it for you, you need to make sure that it says what you believe it should say.

Thank you Gordon and I think your right I am going to tackle the forms ourselves. The claim is actually for my husband he has been on DLA for 20 years but due to his condition worsening and the fact he now has additional medical problems I contacted DLA to inform them of the change and was told he would now have to claim PIP. We have gone through various forms for DLA and ESA in the past and have always been successful and have done the filling in of the forms ourselves each time getting a life award or more recently an indefinite award but now of course PIP has been introduced we now have to claim this instead. After reading so many stories about PIP and people losing their awards Just thought I would ask advice about filling the forms in, it is a stressful enough process without using or interrupting wrongly words on these forms. But you are deffo right best way to do it is to make sure the forms say what he wants them to say in the best truthful way we can. so here goes ... let the process start and the form filling begin. :S

Could you please tell me if you use a dosette box and a alarm to remind you to take your medication should this be counted as an aid and should you be awarded 2 points? Provided you do not meet another of the descriptors. We stated these on the form but yet the decision has no mention and scored 0 points saying because you have sufficient memory and understanding to be able to drive a car and so would be expected to be able to manage your medication effectively. But we also stated that he was only able to drive provided he hadn't taken his higher doses of medication . Could you please advise thanku
