Well the day came 4 weeks ago when the big envelope arrived :-( Actually it got of to a bad start as I got a warning letter that I had not returned it...but I had yet to receive it!!
Now I get a letter from Capita asking me to interview in Nottingham. The pack has assortd routes listed down to the last mile!! It is half way up a hill with no bus or tram stop near by :(
Have tried to change venue but told no appointments locally so keep phoning.
Its made me sick with worry already and this is making it worse. My husband has a worsening heart condition and pushes me in a chair when I have a bad fibromyalgia flare....which this has caused.....how do you make them see sense!!!
I followed all you guides and had no problem with my ESA but had to fail somewhere I suppose....

You can ask for a home assessment but you will need your GP to write to Capita explaining why you cannot attend at their offices.

If Capita won't accept a home assessment or it is not something that you want then you can re-arrange the appointment once but will then have to attend the next one whenever and wherever it is booked for.

Alternatively, you could push for taxi to take you there and back, again you will need the support of your GP.

Is the provision of a taxi in these circumstances part of the duties of DWP and its agent Capita under our equality legislation?

I'm not aware of any requirement that results from the Equality Act, but I don't track Case Law on that area. Certainly we have seen the Assessment Providers provide a Taxi in some circumstances.

Thanks Gordon,
will sit on the phone again and try for a home visit. I will alternate the phone with Capita and the GP :-( What a system...
I think I filled the forms out wrongly so will have to take my chances. Any sort of pressure makes me ill. I feel sick to the stomach...I cant even let my husband know how bad I feel. Whats the point of trying to fight them when I'm fighting to cope with daily life after that damn envelope.....

Thanks Gordon,

I phoned this morning and I have a change of venue as I requested for tomorrow
Well I'm gathering all my bits of paper as we speak and see how it goes.
