PIP - Atos Consultation No 7 Days notice

I am being transfered from DLA to PIP. I am now at the stage that I have recieved a letter to go to a consultation with ATOS.

The letter is dated 10/Nov/2016 and I received it 12/Nov/2016 but the actual appointment date is 16/Nov/2016. Obviously from the dated letter to the appointment is only 6 days.

I can't get anyone at this short notice to go with me. (Especially at 9.am in the morning, where it takes me a couple of hours to dress and wash etc).

I have read on the forum somewhere that I can refuse the appointment if it is not 7 days notice.

Will refusing the appointment be classed as the same as cancelling or rearranging the appoinment? Will it be one of my "strikes" (as you only get 2 appointment chances)?

This is the fault of Atos yet IF I need to cancel the next appointment they send me for any reason will this be classed as failure to participate (twice) and my papers sent back to DWP for the close to be closed down?

I did not agree to a short notice appointment when I sent my forms back.

My appointment is this coming Wednesday so thank you for any advice you can give me before this date, it would be much appreciated.

I agree that you have only received six days notice, you need to raise this with ATOS, but don't be surprised if they argue there position :(

I would also contact the DWP in writing about the issue and include a copy of the ATOS letter and contact you MP

Contacting your MP

It would help when you phone them if you have suitable dates for you sorted out, otherwise you risk them making another one that is not of use to you.

Thank you Gordon, I will do as you suggest above. Could you please clarify though :-

If it is accepted that you did not receive 7 days notice then it should not count against you, that's why I said to expect an argument about whether proper notice has been made.

When you mentioned transferring from DLA to PIPS its not quite as simple as that and they will not consider your DLA claim. But guess you realise that if your on here.

I STRONGLY ADVISE you to take someone with you. I appreciate it is short notice but I just think it helps having someone there for yourself and to be able to remember and write stuff down afterwards when you leave the appt.

ATOS are not a reputable company, any excuse, they don't really follow rules. I mean they make them up.

Also having been in contact with some MPs who are critical of the system and know its not fit for purpose they have told me to tell people to write to their MP to tell them of problems with the system, otherwise they never get to hear. The more people write the better. Although this is not a campaigning website, its important to let them know how bad the system is and how appalling people like ATOS are.
