Hi blueisme,

I'm glad you will have someone with you for the assessment :) The assessor will want to hear from you if possible, your boyfriend should be allowed to help if you are struggling.

The cassette recorders are only relevant if you want to record the interview. If you do you must get permission ahead of the assessment, record 2 cassettes or CDs at the same time and leave a copy with the assessor at the end.

It is legal to record secretly. However, if it were detected the most likely outcome is that the interview would be terminated and your file returned to DWP on the grounds that you had failed to co-operate with the assessment.

I've had my assessment for PIP. Can you tell me if the lady who carried out the assessment makes the decision whether I qualify.

Hi blueisme,

The assessor will make a recommendation but the DWP Decision Maker has final say. We are currently seeing decisions take around 8 weeks following the face2face.

If you've recently had your face-to-face assessment you are entitled to ask the DWP for your face-to-face assessment report.

I've received a copy of the report from my assessment for PIP. The assessor has taken note of my CFS and how that effects me but completely ignored my mental health issues. Can you tell from the copy of the report what the final decision will be by adding up points from each question?. Does whoever makes the decision only take notice of the assessment report or do they look at the information provided by me and my doctor. Sorry if this sounds garbled, really stressed.

HI blueisme,

Yes, add together the maximum points scored for each descriptor to see your total. The Decision Maker largely follows the recommendation of the assessor but we have seen then change points (both up and down).
