Hi blueisme

You are not alone in having these feelings and as you have seen people on here do share and understand your concerns. Try to change your thinking
about the appointment, start thinking of YOU CAN GET IT OVER WITH by attending and you will feel enormous relief when you come out and you will feel so much better.

Because I have bipolar I went through the same process and did not want to go anxiety and all the things your going through. But its a relief when you come out and its finished and you don't have to think about it anymore.

Try getting an appt with your GP and tell them your under huge pressure and anxiety or speak to your mental health crisis team or whoever supports you. Reach out and help is there. Do what Mrs HurtyBack says ring the Samaritans if you need to talk.

The fear of going is worse than the thing itself so try not to think about what may happen in the future. The solution to your anxiety is to attained the interview, get to out the way.

Then go home and treat yourself to something you like as a reward, we northerners like Fish and Chips

Good Luck

Sorry if this has already been covered. I'm on DLA and have a PIP assessment Wednesday. If I get turned down for PIP does it effect my ESA benefit?

If you were to be refused PIP it should have no affect on your ESA.

I really geared myself up for my pip assessment last week. They cancelled one hour before the appointment, I suffer with severe anxiety and it took all my strength to get ready for the assessment. Now they've sent me another appointment for the 5th October and I don't know if I can face the overwhelming anxiety of going through it all again.

Can anybody go with you, a friend or relative?

It's really important that you attend, if you don't then you risk your claim being closed and although this is an appealable Decision the time it would take to resolve, if indeed it can be, will not help you. Try and treat it like a bad tasting medicine that you need to take, once it is over you can move on to the next stage of your claim.

Thanks for your advice. My partner is going with me, if I don't feel able to answer questions, will he be able to speak for me. I have aspergers, general anxiety disorder, among other things and I find it really hard to speak to strangers. How important is it to buy cassette recorders. I keep reading about them. Sorry for all these questions.
