PIP Claim

PIP Claim was created by Harishah
I am in the process of applying for PIP. It has only been two weeks since my claim form two weeks ago I have had a letter asking to attend a face to face assessment. Whilst I have no objections to an assessment I am worried that I have been called upon for this so early because I have heard that it can take up to six months for an assessment.

I was retired from work on ill health and this was only after a face to face assessment with OH Assist (part of ATOS) and also Capita. Both confirmed I was not fit to work at least until state pension age. I sent both reports, including other medical reports, with my claim form. I assumed that looking at both these reports form ATOS and Capita I would not be asked to attend face to face assessment.

In view of the already supplied ATOS and Capita reports may be DWP are going to refuse my application which I am really worried about.

Should I be worried or is this just a standard procedure by DWP into getting further insight into my medical conditions and their effect on me.

Can someone offer any advise on this?

PIP assessments usually only take a couple of weeks to be booked so I would not worry, it hasn't been as long as six months for some time!

Almost all PIP claimants have a face to face assessment.

Although you have been retired from your work, it's unlikely that the criteria that were used to do this will match those against which PIP is assessed.

If you have complete the PIP2 claim form with details of how your conditions effect your ability to complete the PIP activities and shown that you meet the Descriptors to score points then there is no reason to assume that you cannot receive an award.

Had my PIP assessment a couple of days ago. I was made to wait for the assessor to call me in although I got there on time. I think she may have already had access to my application and medical evidence because she was aware of my Spinal condition.

I was surprised that the assessor from the offset mentioned that she was going to go through my assessment quickly because she had other interviews and reports to write by the end of the day. I was not asked all the questions that related to all the questions asked in the claim form which was surprising. As I mentioned in my earlier post I already had an ATOS and Capita face to face assessment at work for my ill health retirement and I do not know if the evidence in those reports together with the medical ones played a part in the DWP wanting just some further basic clarification to come to a decision.

I now have to wait and pray that my application is successful but I am also worried that in hindsight because the assessment was done quickly and not all the questions in my application form were gone through by the assessor, DWP have already made a decision to refuse any award.

Worrying few weeks now.

We have seen too many anomalies to try and guess the result of an assessment by how it went, PIP Decision were taking 7-8 weeks but the time appears to be coming down again and I would guess it will be about 4 weeks.
