HI,
My friend was put in the support group over 4 years ago after recieving a home assesment, she has never been or asked for a assesment since, is this the norm has anyone else been left this long?

The maximum time in the SG without reassessment is three years. There were considerable delays in the ESA system during 2014-15 and some reassessments were deferred for two years. It's also possible that they have been reassessed without the need for a face to face, we regularly hear members report that they had no confirmation of a new Decision or if they did they had not realised because the letter was worded so badly.

The only way they will know is for them to contact the DWP and ask.

Hi, I have just the letter that I have been kept in the support group , the last time was in 2013 and it was for 3yrs but this time there is no time limit . Does this mean I will not be reassessed again?

As Gordon says, above, the maximum time between assessments, in normal situations, is 3 years.

ESA is actually an indefinite award, this is why the claimant is not given an end date. However, a date is usually entered on the computer file to trigger reassessment. DWP call this the 'prognosis' and you should be told what it is if you phone and ask.

We don't know of anybody who has not had their ESA claim reassessed. Your friend needs to contact the DWP.
