Cancelled medical was created by mrsoptic
Hi, I filled in my forms for my transfer to pip from DLA not long ago and sent a stack of evidence with it. I have been on DLA from a child (same rate, indefinite high award) and so I was told my 22years of claims would help towards my case. I had a home medical sent through for next week which I was expecting even though I didn't ask for a home assessment. I have just however had a phone call from Capita saying they have cancelled the assessment due to unforeseen circumstances their end but they can't offer me another appointment at the moment.
Is it a common thing they cancel home appointments? I hope they can make a paper based decision as I honestly don't see what they can gain from a medical when I have evidence backing up all I've said in the form and evidence over the last 22 years also?

It's a lot more unusual for them to cancel a home assessment than one at their offices but it does happen, maybe the assessor was sick or there was some other reason why they were unable to attend on the day. Most home assessors are booked weeks in advance and this is likely to be the reason why not replacement date was offered.
I am afraid it's unlikely (although not impossible) that a Paper assessment will now be done, without additional evidence it's unlikely that they will change their minds that a face to face is required.

Oh well maybe it was wishful thinking eh? I didn't have to attend a medical for my incapacity to ESA last year so I was hoping it would of just been done like that but looks like it won't. I just want it out the way really. Stress is making me quite poorly and according to my consultant on Tuesday I'm narrowly avoiding hospital admission. My father is sadly terminal at the moment also so was hoping it would of been sorted this side of Christmas and we could of just enjoyed time with family we won't get back without the hasstle of it hanging over us. I know everyone is in the same boat though at the moment. It's just horrid how they can treat people and make them wait so long when it's such a big decision that can impact on your life. I will keep you updated if Capita get in contact again soon. Thanks Gordon
