I have a friend who has been asked by the DWP to claim PIP for the first time as his DLA is ending.I made the initial phone call for him and I am also filling in the form.He has long term mental health issues.I filled out his ESA application form a few months ago and he was awarded ESA support group without having to attend a face to face assessment

I have some questions regarding PIP:

1: How much time does the assessor spend looking at the form and supporting evidence?

2: When we sent supporting evidence with his ESA application I highlighted sections that I considered relevant.Should I do the same with the supporting evidence we are sending with
his PIP claim?

3: Another friend is willing to write a supporting letter, but does not want to provide a full address.Would that be acceptable?

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

1. They should take as long as it takes them to read and digest the information, whether they will do this or not is another matter. If you are asking over concerns of presenting too much information then I would encourage you to ignore this restraint, whilst we would always encourage members to write concisely and only about matters relevant to scoring points, this should never be at cost of not explaining the claimants limitations in full.

2. Yes, It's really important to integrate the evidence to the answers on the claim form wherever possible.

3. The letter will still be accepted but I think there is a real risk of it being depreciated if the person writing it is unwilling to be fully identified.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Thanks Gordon.

To be clear:In answer to Question 2.

I SHOULD highlight the parts that relate to the answers given in the form?

I SHOULD refer to the supporting evidence in the answers given in the form?
