I disagree with the DWP about using the tick boxes but to answer your question.

Your carer is not an aid although they may provide you with prompting, supervision or assistance.

Answer the questions as is, would an aid allow you to "reliably" complete an activity on "the majority of days", if not why?

Using your example of grab rails, why don't you have good grip? What condition causes this? What would happen if you did try to hold a grab rail? How often are you affected in this way?

 I have been granted and MR to be reassessed by Atos in the meantime I am now awaiting several medical procedures should I phone and write to DWP to tell them? Will they pass it onto Atos and will Atos see these as days out? They told me last time attending medical appointments means you can go to a F2F anywhere as they class them as days out.

Still filling in my new claim too. Stumped by if you cannot make or prepare food is it yes to aid, aid being Carer and if you have to be pushed in a wheelchair of course you cannot go anywhere on your own or is this ignored because it is about mental ability.

My brain feels like it is going to explode especially at night when I can no longer get to sleep such fun!

Is the Assessment you mention in regard to your new claim? If it is then you can mention the dates on your PIP2. Once your form is submitted it may be worth your contacting ATOS to arrange a mutually agreeable date, although dates that you have notified them as being unavailable on should not be counted against you, it's usually easier to avoid the issue in the first place if at all possible.

The Preparing Food question is asking whether you could prepare and cook a meal with the use of suitable aids, your Carer is not considered as an aid although they could provide assistance. If you can then you should say yes but then explain why you need to use an aid.

If you cannot prepare and cook a meal even with the use of aids then you should reply no and explain why they would not help you.

The assessment is for the old claim and dreading the booking farce of last time. I don't have dates for the procedures yet.

I am not able to cook due to disabled hands but worried last time I said NO to aids.

The mobility journey is bonkers I am not able to get myself anywhere but does this count? Is it worth answering if about mental ability? Thanks again

If it is the old one then contact ATOS about the dates, if you leave it to them then it is S*ds Law that they will pick one of them

Saying "no" to using aids is OK but you must explain why this is the case, just remember to be consistent across the activities, so if you could not hold an aid, but elsewhere say that you can hold a flannel to wash yourself then this may raise issues.

As to the mobility award. If you don't argue that it is a problem then they can't award points, your arguments may be rejected because of the DWP's view of what these activities are about but you lose nothing by trying.
