We are worried about our housing benefit.
They can't leave me but should they swap to JSA? You have to declare they are free to work.

What do people do in this situation?

Whether to claim JSA or not is entirely down to the individual person, you cannot be made to claim any benefit, nor am I aware of any requirement for you to declare them free to work.

:S Sorry I meant to get housing benefit you have to be in receipt of benefits and my Carer doesn't work because he is a full time Carer for me but until my PIP is resolved their benefits are stopped too.

When you sign on for JSA they make you sign a declaration that you are actively seeking and available for work, which my Carer would not be able to do. :pinch:

Hi Pennyman,

Your carer should be able to make a claim for HB on the grounds of low income.
