Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

If you have the MR Notice then there is nothing stopping you appealing. If the DWP were to offer an award then they will lapse (cancel) your appeal, but you retain a new appeal right on that new Decision if it is still not what you want.

Thank you, so even if it is a mistake it is worth waiting to see if I get a phone call.
At least then I might be able to get it looked at again properly. What a tangled web they weave!

You can wait if you want but you need to make an appeal within one month of the date on the MR Notice letter.

Yes I am putting the Appeal in asap. I meant waiting to see if they phone, rather than contacting the DWP. I doubt they would change anything anyway. Thank you.

I have decided that I cannot cope with going for an Appeal. I could try for a paper one, but as I have been booked in for another MRI, I might just wait for those results.
If I decide to re-apply for ESA with a worsening condition, will the fact that I didn't appeal the first one go against me?
Thank you.

I cannot think of any reason why it should. Just make sure that you can still meet the NI/financial criteria.
