If however my payments were to reduce by amount, I would be informed very quickly and have to accept the deduction with immediate effect.

The reason that negative Decisions are applied so quickly is to prevent a recoverable overpayment to the claimant.

Hi again.
Just to update on this situation, I have still had no contact from DWP regarding this 'enforced' change over of entitlement. I am still receiving the same SDA rate and I think I read somewhere that they are allowed to leave people on the old rate, even if the name of it has changed.
Does anyone know if that could be right ? I have tried calling again but it's an absolute nightmare waiting to get through and I don't want to keep 'pestering' about it, but just feel as though I'm in a state of limbo here and not knowing what my true entitlement might be.
This entire matter dates back to March 2016 when they first contacted me about the changeover.
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

As previously explained, if you are successfully transferred to ESA then you cannot receive less than you were receiving under SDA.

I'm afraid contacting the ESA helpline can be difficult, all you can do is wait in the queue until your call is answered.

Hi again
I thought I'd update you. I've finally received the 'brown envelope' and I've been placed in the support group of contribution based ESA.
There is no end date or 'review recommendation' date on the letter. Do they usually have end dates for this, or is this a standard letter for everyone ?
I must say I'm relieved now that I know my difficulties have been recognised accordingly, but just thought I'd ask the question.
Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on the SG award.

It's a standard letter, ESA awards are not for a fixed period which is why there is no end date, if you request a copy of the assessment report (ESA85 if you had a face to face and ESA85A if you did not), the prognosis is usually used to set the reassessment date.

Thanks Gordon
I managed to escape the assessment, due to a fax from my GP when I had requested a home visit. The assessor doctor then decided he had enough evidence to award without the face to face, so for that itself I feel very relieved.
I assume then, that I will just have to wait and see (if and when) they feel a review may be necessary ?
