My husband was placed in the support group some 2 years ago. In March of this year we received a form ESA50 to complete asking for updated information. This form was returned within the timescale. I have checked my paperwork but cannot trace having received a reply. Today we received a letter asking for a face to face interview/assessment. Three weeks ago my husband had a home visit for a PIP assessment - we had a very good assessor and the end result was an increase in the daily living allowance and the mobility remained unchanged at the top rate. Do I call the office to challenge the need for a face to face by yet another health professional based on the recent PIP assessment, or is this yet something else my husband has to go through? As far as I can tell from the help given on this website the fact that he attends hospital every other week for a medical procedure (although he is not an overnight patient) plus his lack of mobility means he meets the points criteria to remain in the support group. I can confirm all of this by his PIP confirmation and hospital appointment letters - would this be acceptable I wonder?

ESA looks at different activities from PIP although there are a few areas of overlap, the assessments for the two are quite different.

Sadly as you have probably realised by now, the new system is designed to just wear us all down, even though we have enough to do with looking after our daily living with
illness disability.
You will have to go through the assessment and they will tell you its nothing to do do with the other benefit. Do not take anything for granted make sure you provide separate information, its totally separate, best to treat it as starting from scratch and then you will be successful like you have already been. At least you will be well rehearsed. I am sorry you like so many of us are having to go through all this.
