ESA Assessment was created by alice
Hi, last year i was awarded no points at my assessment, with the help of this site i took it to appeal and won, i was awarded 15 points and put in the support group. I have Spinabifida and they said if i got a wheelchair i would be able to work. i now have another assessment tomorrow, i dont have much more evidence than i had last year except a few visits to A & E and a broken foot due to falls, i cant get anymore evidence as theres nothing the medical profession can do for me except give me painkillers, i cant take the stress this is causing me and any advice would be so welcome, thanks in advance, Alice

If you were awarded the SG by the Tribunal through the Moving Around activity then you need to show that both your walking and ability to self-propel a wheelchair are limited by your conditions, other than that, given the stage your are in the process, all I can suggest is that you have a look at the ESA Claim guides and in particular the section at the back that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Hi, I had my assessment yesterday, they said I had to see a doctor not a health assessor, didn't explain why, just said because of my condition (Spinabifida) she didn't examine my feet/legs like the doctor did last year, just asked lots of Q's and asked me to do upper body exercises, the whole thing only took about 20 minutes, I haven't got a gut feeling either way of how it went, only that it was so different than the one last year which took over an hour, can you tell me why certain conditions must be assessed by a doctor please,,, Alice

Hi Alice,

There is a list of conditions that are supposed to be seen by a doctor - however, this is only advisory and the Assessment Provider seems to ignore it when they feel like it!

We have given up trying to predict the outcome from the way the assessment was handled, all you can do now is wait and hope. ESA decisions are mostly taking a couple of weeks following the face2face, although where there is a delay it is usually a long one :(
