ESA support group mental health . was created by Susie
Hi 7 months after I filled in ESA 50 I received appointment for medical assessment . I have been in support group for 5 years . I was too ill to attend and a friend phoned and cancelled for me and they gave her a fax number for my GP to send a letter explaining how unwell I am and attending an assessment is very difficult and makes me suicidal . I received another lappontment date from them written before she sent the fax . I just don't know what to do . I was so distressed at last medical and can't face it again . I have also been invited to apply FOR PIP even though my award was indefinite . I am 62.5 years old and had I got my pension at 60 would not be in this awful state . I have no money other than benefits so have no options .
Any advice please

It may still be possible to get a home assessment or perhaps even a paper assessment but you or your friend needs to contact Maximus immediately.

www.chdauk.co.uk/contact-us

If you don't attend the second appointment then your ESA claim will be closed, although you will be given an opportunity to explain why, but at best this would most likely result in your being given another opportunity to attend.

You can try contacting your MP for assistance on the matter

I'm very glad you got the award you deserve, thanks for letting us know.

It is not common for the claimant's medics to be contacted (DWP do not have any duty to do so), that's why we suggest that members include everything they can in support of their claim.
