DLA to PIP at 16 was created by davidheathcote
Our grandaughter with learning disabilities turns 16 in the New Year. We have completed the form requesting that DLA/PIP continues to be paid into our bank account as grandaughter cannot handle her own money. DWP Visiting Services have arranged to visit us. The letter says that the visitor will require details of household income and savings. As DLA / PIP is not dependent on income or savings, why does DWP require this information?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

You are correct, neither DLA nor PIP are means tested so I can't understand why DLA want to see details of your finances. It could be that this is a standard letter but the only way you will know is to contact DLA and ask.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

For information of anyone else following this thread, DWP have now confirmed that the paragraphs about requiring financial details were part of a standard letter and do not apply in our case. It would help if they sent out correct info! I could have spent a lot of time gathering data that was not needed.
