PIP was created by Suemouse
The dreaded brown envelope came yesterday to Claim PIP I am on High Rate Mobility and Care with Infinite award for the last 9 years. I am not sure about somethings mainly I had a stroke in 2003 and I still have numbness and tingly down my left side and weaker on that side I also have Fibromyalgia diagnosed 30 years ago and also have an irregular heart beat Can I put the Stroke down when I claim PIP is my main concern and also the Irregular Heartbeat. Also I have change areas and Doctors since the Stroke and only the doctor to confirm this. I have no written information from that period All I have is consultants letters of procedures he has done i.e Nerve Block and Facet joint and I am awaiting for scans on my hips in a weeks time to find out the cause pain in my hips and lower back. I have tried to read the information on your site but I simply cannot remember everything I read or digest information. So my husband will be looking at it and completing my forms I do understand that is I have to have a medical assessment I will have to explain how my daily life is affected but even that is difficult because I forget to say things

Hi Sue and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

You might wish to remove your full name from your message as this froum is open for anyone to read.

PIP will be awarded due to your care and/or mobility needs. You do not need to go into detail on the phone to initiate the claim but you should add to the PIP2 form any condition that brings about, or adds to, these limitations. In fact, I put on my form conditions that are well managed and do not cause any problems as that explains why I am taking certain medication.

The criteria for PIP are very different from the DLA ones, have a good look at the PIP guide so that you understand these criteria before you complete the PIP2 form (this will be sent to you a couple of weeks after you make that first phone call).

PIP help for claimants

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it makes things easier for us - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

My forms arrived today and I only have until the 23rd December to complete the application I do have a few letters from the Pain management Doctor but I am waiting for an appointment to see him which will be in the next forum to discuss the scan I had this morning on the soft tissue around my hips and the man who did it thinks it is to do with tendons and bone rubbing together but will not know until my form is due back. would I just put this on the form that the investigations are ongoing,

You can request an extension for the date to return the form is you need it by calling the same number that you did to make the claim.

Although you should mention that you are waiting on these test results, those assessing you cannot take them into account until you actually have the results, so include the information but don't rely on it.
