Hi, have applied to transfer from DLA to Pip. Did first part of form and gave landline number, had 2 missed calls on landline no message left couldn't get to it quickly.rang Monday after 2 weeks was assured part 2 posted out last Friday. Just received phone call asking me if I work abroad and to verify my date of birth ,apparently it was on my form asked me to send them my birth certificate and passport. I refused to post them have said I have to go to local jobcentre to prove who I am ,is this normal procedure ?? Any help would be appreciated have never experienced this before I am now waiting for a letter from them.

It is unusual but PIP does have a residency test, have you been out of the country for any extended period, you need to have spent two of the last three years in the UK.

HI, well finally ,after 6 EXPENSIVE phone calls, received letter to "verify date of birth".After asking why ? Nobody could actually give me a valid reason. DUPLICATE letter received on Christmas Eve, Opted to go to local job centre rather than post MY ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFiCATE,on 29 .12 16 .Original claim 14 .11. 16. First letter posted 30.11.16........NOT received, went to local JC 29.11.16 11am.........Phone call 1.20pm to ask why I had not responded ??????? CUT OFF DATE 30.11.16 !!!!!!! finally received PIP 2 today 16.1.17 No wonder people get stressed, having worked for 32 years , not au fait with legislation , or how benefit system works, I AM SO GLAD I am computer literate and found this website , worth every penny AND more ! .... Many Thanks.
