Hello again
Two things:
First, I have not had all the information back yet but I wondered if I should have pushed for all the descriptors in the ESA app. to be reassessed.....As I gained the maximum points for mobility, the person reviewing my claim said he didn't think we needed to carry on further as I had enough points to be put into the Support Group. I just wonder if this could go against me regarding PIP?
Two: I am still trying to get things together that I should have done long ago regarding my condition and low and behold, I have just received a letter about applying for PIP. I'm really not up to this as I haven't recovered from the ESA situation recently but I may not have a choice. I know I should have been getting much more DLA than I'm on for a long time but just couldn't put myself through the process voluntarily. I am determined that I will get mobility this time as well as I am having great difficulty walking or doing anything. Am I able to ask for my application to be slightly delayed due to the above?
Cheers for now.

You only need to meet one SG Descriptor for an award so it is standard practice, once the claimant has clearly met one to not need to continue with the assessment.
It won't help your PIP claim but it won't hinder it either, the criteria between the two benefits are sufficiently different that it can be difficult to draw conclusions from a report for one of the two as to whether the claimant meets the criteria for the other.
I'm afraid you cannot delay the PIP process but you can take your time in responding, so you won't be penalised for starting your PIP claim only a couple of days before the required date.
You can also ask for an extension to the time that you are given to complete the PIP, just give them a call once you have the form.

Hi Gordon
Yes, thanks for that. That is what I am going to do. Once I receive the forms, I will ask for an extension. I was hoping for a bit of recovery time but......never mind. Not great timing as I am just trying to sort out getting a social worker/social care and possibly some adaptations etc. when I then received the news of my DLA ending. My ESA has not yet been fully sorted out and I have not received any payments yet. The two benefits are completely different but it's funny how often people seem to get them both around the same time. I will be doing my utmost to follow the guide to fully understand the questions for PIP as best as I can.
Cheers for now

p.s. can I do something about changing the spelling of 'superseded' in the topic title? It is mocking me every time I look at it!
