i receive DLA at the higher rate and get also esa £109 and I'm in a support group. i have Parkinsons disease .up until 6 weeks ago my wife was working.unfortunately on a visit to our GP and then the hospital she was told she needed a mechanical heart valve and was operated on at barts in london where the op was a success they sent her home with a chest infection.she was re admitted to east surrey hospital and stayed in there for two weeks.during this time she applied for pip and we have been sent an appointment for a pip test.she still needs hospital treatment which is she needs a pacemaker.have we applied for the right benefit or should we apply for another benefit.by the way we also owe £6000,which is an overpayment of tax credits which is being looked into by a adjudicater

PIP can only consider your wife's care and mobility needs that have existed for three months and are expected to last for another nine months, so she may struggle to meet this criteria, it will depend on the prognosis she has been given.

If she was working and is now unable to do so then the first thing she should be receiving is Statutory Sick Pay. Once she has used this up then she may be able to make a claim for ESA, see
