From low rate to zero after pip assessment

Received PIP decision just now, After the assessment 2 weeks ago I was expecting the worst as it did not go well.

I was on lower rate dla for mobility and thought it would be more difficult to qualify for PIP on mental health grounds. However I thought I should have scored at least some points, even if not enough. However it is zero points all the way. I feel as if I have been well and truly processed.

To add insult to injury I have received the decision before I have been refunded travel costs for the marathon journey to assessment by Atos! What a shower of ...
From reading other members experiences I realize this is not unusual, but sorry I just needed to express myself for the good of my health!

Hi Hundi,

I am so sorry to hear that your claim was refused :(

If you wish to take this further, your first step will be a Mandatory Reconsideration. This must be requested within 1 month of the date on the decision letter, to the address at the top of that letter. You can make the request on the phone but we always suggest that you follow up in writing.

This is the ESA MR guide but most/all of it applies to PIP too

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/employment-and...ory-reconsiderations

Your other option is to reapply, you can do this straight away. This might be particularly appropriate if you feel that you did not do the best possible job of completing the PIP2 form.

Please reply to this with any further questions or comments about your PIP, rather than starting a new topic. You will find it easily in future if you bookmark/favourite it on your web browser now. Alternatively, you can click on your username (in blue when you are logged onto the forum) and it will bring up a list of all your previous messages. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

Thanks for your help. On sober reflection I decided not to take this any further, though I might make a new claim in future.
Well, as of today 3 Jan 2017 I am no longer a 'burden' on the welfare state. Good luck and best wishes to all in this situation and to those who continue the struggle against this awful system. Hundi x

Although I decided to lay this claim to rest, on 9 December I requested a copy of the PIP assessment and followed this up in writing a few weeks later.
Today I called to chase this up, just because I felt in the mood, and was told that it was still in the workflow queue to be done!

About all you can do is make a complaint

Complaining to the DWP
