Hi
I received a letter yesterday (7/1/16) dated 6/1/16 to inform me my face to face assessment on 9/1/16 has been cancelled due to unforeseen/changed circumstances. We will contact you when a new appointment can be arranged. I am not reading anything into this but have you any idea as to why this might be apart from illness or similar with the staff?
Also I have read somewhere that you recommend informing the DWP of this cancellation if so where do I send the information to? A little confusion with DWP and Health Assessment Advisory Service and who needs what etc.
Thank you.

It could be staff availability but this is just a guess.

The need to inform the DWP of cancelled appointments has diminished, we went through a period last year where the Assessment Providers were cancelling appointments on the day and then accusing the claimant of not attending, as you have a letter cancelling the interview I don't think you need to contact the DWP, but hang on to the letter.

Hi there
After having my assessment cancelled see (previous post) my new date is 2 weeks tomorrow.
A friend will be accompanying me who knows about the process as his wife has been several times the majority of her problems are physical but mine are mental. So I am just wondering how to go about the assessment with regards to remembering to say everything I want to say with any extra input needed from my friend. I have it all in my head but not sure I will be able to get it all across to answer each question I am asked. I am sat here typing this feeling all hot and anxious but by the time I get to meet the assessor and get in the room this anxiety may have passed and might not come back again during the interview how do I deal with that?
Should my friend have all my paperwork in a folder to look at during the interview and to make notes? But what about me should I have anything to go to? In all the information on this website about how they are watching you the whole time how you look ,dress, eye contact, talk. If I am to answer as fully as I can I will need notes or prompts to help me but if I can manage to say all that I need/want to isn't this going to go against me because I can/maybe able to do this, with or without referring to these?
I have looked at my previous assessment report in December 2012 unfortunately I didn't have the benefit of your site then and went to tribunal which I won, and can see where I went 'wrong' so to speak.
All the following are in the report, I did not need prompting, I could make a hot drink and a sandwich, I looked well, I could communicate well,I have 2 children (older now) but I could wash their clothes, I could go to my GP, to the local shop (both are next to each other along with Boots Chemist and takes literally 5 minutes walking, 2 minutes in a car. Again my elderly parents live 5 minutes drive away I rarely do these on my own but sometimes it an absolute necessity, and the list goes on.
I have also been reading The Glossary of Lima re appearance, behaviour, speech, mood etc.
I am sorry to ramble on so much perhaps from this you get the depression, anxiety and stress that I am suffering from they way I try to put this over to you and you are trying to give advice and help.
What I am really asking is how do I approach this to help myself at this extremely difficult and worrying time.
Thank you for any response you may make.

I assume this is for ESA.

Your friend can certainly take notes and can have a copy of your claim form and evidence but it's unlikely that they will be allowed to comment during the assessment, the assessor will be looking to you to provide all of the answers.

There's no reason why you should not have a similar folder, but if you need to refer to it then explain why you are doing so.

The ESA Claim guides have a section that deals with the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.
