ESA Pre-Board Check? was created by Alison
Hi folks

I have been in the Support Group without a f2f for nearly one year, and I recently returned my ESA50 form for reassessment.

Today I called the 0345 number to ask if my ESA50 form has been put on system yet. (It arrived at the main Wolverhampton office on 9th Dec).

After looking through various systems, the guy told me they have the ESA50, and that it is currently going through a Pre-Board Check (I think that is what he called it.) And that a doctor in Wembley is looking at it.

Can anyone tell me what a pre-board check is? Is it just a standard thing?

Also, I am a bit concerned that my application is Wembley considering I live in Scotland.

I'm also a bit concerned that the call handler couldn't tell me whether all the pages of additional medical evidence had been scanned. (I've been a bit concerned about that because, on receipt of my SARs info, not all medical evidence from last time was included.)

Cheers

The pre-board check is standard and is to see whether there is sufficient information for a recommendation to be made without the need for you to attend a face to face assessment.

Don't worry about it being in Wembley the staff who do the pre-board are separate from those who do assessments.

It's likely that the call handler does not have access to the information that has been scanned, if you think about it, why would they as they are not involved in the assessment process. If you gave a F2F then you can confirm what information is in your file.

Thanks very much, Gordon, for clarifying this. . . .. :-)

Just wondering if you know whether the DWP is more likely to send a support group claimant for a f2f if they did not have one previously - or is it still largely based on whether the assessor can determine my condition from the strength of evidence I send?

As far as I know it's entirely down to Maximus and the level of information available, although it Is possible that the DWP can request that a face to face be done, but we do have members who have never had a face to face, so if the DWP do interfere then their reasons for doing so are not clear.

If you kept a copy of your ESA 50 and you do have an FtF take your copy and copies of any medical evidence you sent to DWP with you.

My Wife's ESA50 was missing important pages aat her Ftf but we had a copy with us which the HCP, a Doctor, took a copy of.

Wife remains in Support Group.
